ASAM Level 2.1
CIG provides Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Services for adults. Our Clinically Trained Team Members provide strengths-based IOP groups to those who qualify through the ASAM level of care assessment. Groups last for 3 hours and are held 5 times per week, for a total of 15 hours of treatment each week. We also offer an on-staff Program Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner that conducts initial psychiatric assessment with follow up appointments while engaged in treatment, medical health physical, and random urine drug screenings.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a level of treatment for substance use disorders on the continuum of care between outpatient treatment (OP) and higher levels of care, which include residential in-patient treatment and all-day partial hospitalization (PHP). During the program, participants will learn about the cycle of addiction and stages of change, develop recovery and relapse prevention plans, discuss triggers, cravings, and coping strategies, as well as dive into holistic wellness discussions to reduce overall stress, anxiety, and mental health struggles that play a role in substance use. Through the group model, participants develop a support system and connect with other resources for long-term sobriety.

Our Clinically Trained Team Members provide strengths-based PHP groups to those who qualify through the ASAM level of care assessment. The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a level of treatment for substance use disorders on the continuum of care that is one level higher than intensive outpatient treatment but lower than residential in-patient treatment.
Is anxiety taking over your life? Does it feel like you can’t control it no matter how hard you try? Have you already tried therapy but found it ineffective? If this sounds like you, I’m confident I can help. My practice offers the most effective forms of treatment, to get the relief from anxiety that you deserve. When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy – as opposed to anxiety medication – treats more than just symptoms to the problem.
Often, these are the symptoms of anxiety:
• Nervousness, restlessness or being tense
• Feelings of danger, panic or dread
• Rapid breathing or hyperventilation
• Increased or heavy sweating
• Trembling or muscle twitching
• Weakness or lethargy
• Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about
• Insomnia
• Obsessions about certain ideas, a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder
• Anxiety surrounding a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past, a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder
Therapy can help to uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears, learn how to relax, look at situations in a new, less frightening way, and develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills.
Most people will experience trauma in their lifetime whether it’s a car accident, abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent criminal act, exposure to the violence of war, or a natural disaster. While many people can recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends and bounce back with resiliency, others may discover effects of lasting trauma, which can cause a person to live with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, or posttraumatic stress far after the event has passed. In these circumstances, the support, guidance, and assistance of a therapist is fundamental to healing from trauma.
Trauma Symptoms (according to the four types of symptoms listed in the DSM-5)
Avoidance Symptoms
• Avoiding specific locations, sights, situations, and sounds that serve as reminders of the event
• Anxiety, depression, numbness, or guilt
Re-experiencing Symptoms
• Intrusive thoughts, nightmares or flashbacks
Hyperarousal Symptoms
• Anger, irritability, and hypervigilance
• Aggressive, reckless behavior, including self-harm
• Sleep disturbances
Negative Mood and Cognition Symptoms
• Loss of interest in activities that were once considered enjoyable
• Difficulty remembering details of the distressing event
• Change in habits or behavior since the trauma
Research has proven psychotherapy to be the most effective form of treatment for trauma. Most commonly, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) are used in treating trauma.
Are you feeling hopeless, isolated and not your usual self? Do these thoughts often enter your mind?
• I am worthless and can’t do anything about it.
• I feel guilty for just wanting to eat, sleep and be alone.
• I hate who I am these days.
• I can’t stop crying, which makes me want to stay away from others.
• I feel gut-wrenching pain, but no one understands.
• My life and the world around me are dark. I hate it, but I can’t change it.
If you have had any variation of these thoughts and don’t feel like your usual self, chances are you may be suffering from depression. I want you to know that you are not alone and there are people who can help. Many of my clients find relief in realizing that their struggle does not own them and that there are many options available to once again have hope for their lives.
I understand the social stigmas that come with label of being depressed, and thus aim to help clients sort out their environmental, biological and circumstantial factors while offering support and care through a very dark time in their lives.
Our family affects who we are and who we become, both for the better and for worse. We learn our vocabulary, our habits, our customs and rituals, and how to view and observe the world around us. Anyone seeking healthier, closer family relationships can benefit from family therapy.
Common reasons for seeking family therapy include:
• Divorce
• Parent-child conflict
• Problems between siblings
• Domestic violence
• The unexpected or traumatic loss of a family member
Family therapy is necessary to address family issues and heal a family’s wounds. If any of the above scenarios resonate with your family, consider seeking family therapy. Family therapy can be beneficial on many different levels. Some positive family therapy outcomes are:
• Strategies to develop and maintain boundaries
• Fostered sense of cohesion and communication among family members
• Promotes problem-solving through an understanding of family patterns and dynamics
• Builds empathy and understanding.
• Reduces family conflict
Studies show that family therapy is particularly important for families with members who struggle with substance abuse, eating disorders and other behavioral issues. When the whole family grows, each member is better off.
